US Food and Drug Administration Headquarters Consolidation
White Oak, MD
3,000,000 SF
Under the auspices of the General Services Administration, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has embarked upon an ambitious program to consolidate its myriad of programs and initiatives into 3,000,000 SF of new facilities on a single 170-acre site. The primary charge was to consolidate FDA facilities within a single secure, technologically sophisticated complex that responds to the agency structure and mission, respects the character of the buildings retained on the site, and expresses the scientific nature of the work conducted in the new buildings. This new campus is comprised of over a dozen new laboratory, office, conference, and assembly buildings, which will serve as the new headquarters for 7,000 FDA employees. The GSA and the design team are committed to achieving the highest LEED® rating for the campus as a whole and for each individual building.
