The US Embassy in Singapore is designed to be both a gracious host and a respectful guest. Its architecture is a blend of poetic Eastern shapes and classical Western orders. Its ambiance is created by the play of light on the reception pavilion and the sound of water in its serene courtyard. The facility houses offices and consular services as well as the security guard contingent. An image of dignity, the building is entered by a covered walkway rising to a symbolic portal, which faces the garden courtyard. A reflecting pool creates a place of peace. Its enclosure of reflective metal, crafted multicolor stones, and iconic light fixtures serve to mediate both space and culture.
