Vance Hall, Wharton External Affairs
Philadelphia, PA

Lacking an appropriate reception area for visitors as well as adequate office space for an increased staff population, the University of Pennsylvania commissioned Kling to perform a feasibility study and subsequent design for the renovation of the third floor of Vance Hall. The floor is home to the prestigious Wharton School’s Office of External Affairs, which is responsible for alumni development, fundraising efforts, and communications. The interior fitout addresses several critical needs identified by the University. The generously scaled suite entrance and Reception area is enhanced by a more suitable finish for visiting Trustees, board members, and prospective donors as they enter from the elevator lobby. The design also features increased access to natural light, the creation of an open and airy office environment, and the promotion of team interaction.
