This corporate campus for Merrill Lynch serves approximately 7,000 staff including traders, financial analysts, private client groups, call centers, and support. This site is planned for secure support, robust infrastructure, and highly reliable core data center areas. Power for the site comes from two separate sources at 26kV and is looped throughout the site so that even if one source fails, the entire campus will stay up and running. Likewise, communications coming into the facilities come from two separate locations and are part of a redundant Sonet ring. In the event that one location is unable to process incoming data, the second location automatically takes over. The telecommunications infrastructure provides complete access to all of the necessary voice and data services and utilizes VoIP. Four separate M/E plants serve the entire campus, each with Emergency power and Emergency Cooling. An Ice-Storage system provides energy peak saving as well as up to 2hr cooling ride-through. Campus infrastructure includes raised floors throughout office and data center areas, 24/7 cooling systems, UPS, generator back-ups, and Ice Storage. Each of the individual campus buildings also houses technology infrastructure rooms with cable entrance facilities, main distribution frames, LAN backbone routers, and switching facilities.
