The concept design for this residential housing project is located at a former industrial, riverside site in suburban Philadelphia. Due to the eclectic scale and usage patterns of the project’s surroundings — water to the south, a small-scale residential area to the north, and existing warehouse buildings to the west the study led to an investigation of a wide range of high-density housing typologies, from low-rise to high-rise, with flats, loft-type apartments, and through-ventilated units. Provisions for parking and a fitness center were included in the study, which incorporated visualization of future development along the entire riverfront area.
