Boston University Medical Center
BioSquare 3
Boston, MA
160,000 SF
Through concerted and successful collaboration with the Boston Redevelopment Authority, Biosquare 3 has a more contemporary design than much of the more traditional surrounding areas. The building’s architecture represents high technology and speed, making it readily identifiable from the new Massachusetts Avenue Connector and the Southeast Expressway. The faÁade design and materials express BioSquare’s sophisticated medical research environment. The overall design is divided into nine structural bays that are 22’ wide. The organization of the building footprint, core area, and structural bays allows for an ideal lab module of 33’ x 22’ that provides efficient and flexible space. The spandrel glass curtain wall is six stories with a variety of widths and projections that break up the mass of the building.
